On Saturday 19th February, Oxford Gamelan Society performed, with guest dance Ni Madé Pujawati, as part of a Rotary Club gala fundraiser for Polio elimination and other international development projects, in the Jacqueline du Pré building in St Hilda’s college.
As welcoming music, set up in the foyer, we played Wilujeng, Sigra Mangsah, Subakastawa-Ayak-Srepeg, and Gonjang Pati.
The formal part of the performance consisted of Mugirahayu – Samiran, Gendhong – Loro Loro Topeng, Pangkur (accompanying a dance), and Jula-Jali – Sontoloyo.
